About Ya’akov Almor
I am a strategic consultant, communications specialist and project manager with some 30 years of experience in the international diamond, gemstone and jewelry industry and trade. Since 1998, I’ve built an internationally acclaimed reputation in marketing communications, strategy consulting, as well as corporate and public relations services.
Born and raised in the Netherlands, I immigrated into Israel in 1982, becoming a public relations specialist and fund raising officer at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. In 1987 began working as an associate editor at International Diamond Publications Ltd. in Ramat Gan. The following year I was appointed director of public relations at the Israel Precious Stones and Diamonds Exchange and the Israel Emerald Cutters Association and two years later joined the private sector as marketing and sales director of Colgem Ltd., a firm that manufactures and trades in high-end colored gemstones and fancy colored diamonds.
I holds a master’s degree from the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, completed post-graduate studies at the University of Tel Aviv and once in the diamond hem and jewelry industry also became a certified gemologist.
Among others, I currently served as Editor-in-Chief of the World Diamond Magazine, a joint venture between the World Diamond Mark Foundation and the Turkish Jewellery Exporters Association (JTR); director of communications of the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA); communications liaison of the Diamond & Importers Association of America (DMIA); director of communications the International Diamond Council; and as business development consultant to the Gemmological Association of Great Britain – Gem-A.
Between 2012 and 2016 I served as communications director and spokesman of the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE). In addition, I continue to work in similar capacities for various commercial companies and other entities in the diamond, gem and jewelry industry and trade.
